TUITION & MORE
The School of Ballet RI has programs for students of all ages, interested in engaging in ballet in a variety of different commitment levels.
Children ages 3-8 who are interested in trying out ballet for the first time
Children ages 8-18 interested in studying ballet at a lower commitment level
Children ages 8-22 interested in pursuing the study of ballet requiring a higher level of commitment to study
Students ages 18-22 interested in becoming professional ballet dancers
Students ages 18+ interested in returning to ballet or trying it for the first time
Students ages 4+ with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities interested in taking a ballet class paced for their needs
The first step to taking classes with us depends on which program you’re joining!
In the Children’s, Open Fundamentals, or Adaptive Programs, you can simply sign up and attend class (please review our cancellation policy in the FAQs) or sign up for a trial class.
In the Core Program, you’ll want to schedule a placement class. Reach out to [email protected] to schedule this.
In the Adult Program, you can drop-in for one class at a time or take advantage of our monthly passes for a discounted rate.
In the Professional Trainee Program, you’ll need to audition for our Company Repertory Workshop and be invited by the Ballet RI artistic staff.
Some important things to read before joining!
MindBody
- MindBody is the software we use for all our registration activities.
- For families with children, we recommend accessing MindBody via a web browser (not the app) to use it to its fullest capacity.
- Families registering children should make sure they have a “Family Account”—you can check with our front desk to verify this.
Performance Opportunities

- Ensemble 1 & 2
- Ensemble is a process-driven program designed to cultivate the core values essential for upper-level students as they continue their artistic and professional development. Through a semi-professional ensemble environment, students have the opportunity to build the skills necessary for successful collaborative performance and professional practice. Ensemble students may be asked to participate in specific Competitions if deemed necessary by the Artistic Executive Director, Artistic Curator and, CORE Principal. Ensemble rehearsals are scheduled weekly based on student participation and performance needs.
- Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP)/ Competition Preparation, Participation
- At the discretion of the Artistic Executive Director, Artistic Curator, and CORE Principal, select students may be invited to participate in prestigious ballet competitions and training opportunities. These may include the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), ADC | IBC Youth International Ballet Competition, Universal Ballet Competition (UBC), Connecticut Classic, Prix de Lausanne, and the USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi. Participation is based on each student’s artistic development, technical readiness, and overall potential, as determined by the artistic leadership team. Please note that participation in these opportunities will incur an additional fee.
- Next Generation
- Next Generation is a student-driven choreographic workshop that culminates in a live performance in our Black Box Theatre. Designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and artistic leadership, this unique opportunity invites students from Primary 3, Upper Level 1, and Upper Level 2 to participate as Co-Artistic Directors, Choreographers, and Dancers.

Students enrolled in both School of Ballet RI and Providence Country Day School during the 2026–2027 academic year receive a discount on tuition at both schools. Please contact [email protected] for more information.
Tuition is refundable within the indicated registration periods of each respective program, less a $30 processing fee per child, registration fee, the pro-rated cost of classes have taken place (whether attended or not), and any applied discounts. Please note that schedule and/or teachers are subject to change. Once a registration period has closed, tuition is not refundable.
Registration fee: $50.00 for the first child, $35.00 for subsequent children
- Paid once for the academic year, parents registering more than one child receive a discount on registration fees for each additional child.
Nutcracker Performance fee: $150.00
- By Audition Only
- Covers all rehearsals, costuming, and production costs for participation in The Nutcracker.
Culmination Performance fee: $190.00
- Covers all rehearsals, costuming, choreography, and production costs for Culmination; includes t-shirt.
Ensemble Performance fee: $1075.00 (Ensemble 1), $1575 (Ensemble 2)
- Covers all choreography, rehearsal, and production costs for the season.
YAGP Performance fee:
- Competition fee –
- $2000 – for 1st classical solo – inclusive of registration fee (one competition) – music/costuming/10 hrs of coaching
- $1250 – for contemporary solo – inclusive of registration fee (one competition) – music/costuming 10 hrs coaching/choreography
- $1000.00 – additional classical solo – inclusive of registration fee (one competition) – music/costuming/additional rehearsal
- $100/hr – additional rehearsal fee
- *If invited to finals additional fees may apply
School of Ballet RI offers two internal scholarship opportunities, both available for application beginning on July 27th, and closed for application on August 7th. Scholarship recipients will be notified of scholarship receipt by August 21.
FACILITIES
Located in the heart of Providence’s vibrant, charming East Side, Ballet RI’s facilities feature three spacious, light filled studios with sprung floors, ballet barres and mirrors, offering a safe and nurturing environment for developing dancers of all ages and abilities. The largest of the studios transforms into a 95 seat Black Box Theatre where new and innovative works for audiences of all ages are performed.
The vibrant, walkable neighborhood features unique shops, diverse restaurants, a charming public park and playground, and is easily accessible by bicycle, transit, and car. Ballet RI is a proud member of the Hope Street Merchants Association.
