ADAPTIVE dance PROGRAM
Ballet RI’s Adaptive Dance Program enables dancers with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities or movement challenges and aging bodies to explore movement in an encouraging, safe environment where professional teachers are trained to modify and support ALL bodies through a series of exercises meant to increase physical mobility, flexibility, strength, musicality and self-expression.

ADAPTIVE DANCE CLASS
Adaptive Dance class is an hour-long class open to children and young adults with Down Syndrome and other Intellectual and Developmental Disorders. This class explores movement while focusing on the individual abilities of each student. Exercises are specifically designed for safety and work to develop coordination, overall fitness, balance, rhythm and musicality. Our teaching staff helps each student develop self-confidence and self-awareness. With the assistance of percussion accompaniment, the students are able to improve their sense of musicality and rhythm.
