FINANCIAL AID OPPORTUNITIES

 

DANCE FOR ALL  

Ballet RI provides an enriching and transformative dance education to all, regardless of ability to pay tuition and associated fees.  Below are the various financial aid opportunities available to students through gifts made to Ballet RI and through third party scholarships. If you know of an additional scholarship opportunity that you would like us to list here, please contact us.  

CHRISTINE HENNESSEY SCHOLARSHIP FUND  

The Christine Hennessey Scholarship Fund honors the legacy and values of our co-founder, who believed education was central to our mission and the broad success of the arts in the community.  

Applications are accepted once a year, before the academic term in the fall, and require pertinent tax information.  If interested, please email [email protected] and put “Scholarship Application” in the subject line.  

2025-2026 application OPEN THROUGH AUGUST 15, 2025

DERRICK DAVIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND  

The family of Derrick Jerrell Davis is honored to offer a transformative new scholarship program in Derrick’s memory, which funds tuition assistance for promising dance students of color aged 5–20 who demonstrate financial need.  This scholarship covers tuition and/or additional costs associated with dance needs (such as uniforms, fees, etc.).  This application does not require financial documentation.

PROVIDENCE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER  

How does art make you feel? 

Let us know by designing a new ARTS Scholarships logo to be displayed on the PPAC website and more! The creator of the winning design will receive a $600 cash reward to use at their discretion, and their creation will be used in 2026 and beyond. 

Submission Requirements 

  • Open to students in 6th – 12th grade or the homeschool equivalent as of Fall 2025.
  • Must be a current Rhode Island resident.
  • Submission Deadline is 3PM on Friday, October 17.

BROWN GIRLS DO BALLET  

Brown Girls Do Ballet increases participation of underrepresented populations in ballet programs through ballet performances, photo exhibitions, and providing resources and scholarships to assist young girls in their ballet development and training. There are numerous scholarship opportunities through Brown Girls do Ballet, all with different application deadlines.

TINNEY FAMILY ARTS SCHOLARSHIP 

The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Newport County offers the Tinney Family Arts Scholarship of $2,000 in memory of the Tinney Family. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating High School Senior who has demonstrated artistic talent and the ambition to strive for excellence. All areas of the arts will be accepted and considered. It is the desire in giving this scholarship that the Tinney family’s protégé will cherish and perpetuate the Tinney legacy while making the most of his/her own inherent artistic abilities.

ANTHONY QUINN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS  

This program was established to commemorate Anthony Quinn’s contribution to the arts and support his vision for an art-conscious society. The Scholarship Program provides up to $2500 in financial assistance to high school students who wish to attend a recognized pre-college or summer intensive arts education program. 

The application period is now closed and will reopen in October 2025 for summer 2026 programs.
